Steve Hopkins and Kathy McGovern-Hopkins have a small goldfish and flower farm in Hawaii. Both are career aquaculture researchers and hatchery managers, but maintain a passion for growing fish even as they slowly drift towards retirement. Over the last few years they have concentrated on breeding ryukin, then wakin, then top-view ranchu and now tosakin. Jikin are coming as soon as the oya decide to cooperate and they are also trying to develop a line of high-quality sarasa hibuna. Kathy actually spends more time developing swordtails and Steve is also interested in koi. Their family farm has thirty-or-so ponds, a similar number of fiberglass and plastic tanks, and a similar number of aquaria.
